WHITESPACE, VOID. President Trump, each night around 2 a.m., is being deported into a golden-mirrored Void. In this space of blinding whiteness and Twilight Zone era special effects, the only options are gazing into the depths of your soul or tweeting. We had an FFN photographer follow him there, hoping to catch him learning about empathy and the basics of Jungian Psychology.
On the night our photographer followed Trump through a wormhole (the one that opens up on Fox news if you watch around the clock), we landed with a thud into the Void and followed him through a series of large golden framed mirrors. It was like a Trump Hotel on bleach.
He first saw himself as a Latino dishwasher. We thought this might turn things around, but instead of self reflection, he tweeted, “Dishwashers bad. Dirt good. I grab dishes by the dirty. Make USA filthy again.” We retained hope that the further mirrors would reach him.
Trump’s reflection was surprised to be a Muslim brain surgeon. We hoped he might extrapolate that many of those affected by immigration orders were good hearted, highly skilled, and internationally recognized workers who come to the USA to offer their valued services. Perhaps a bit of jealousy infused his next tweet in response: “Surgeons bad. Beards bad. Obamacare needs shave. Make country hairless again. Shave me!”
Maybe if he was a stand up comedian instead of president, we would allow the third grade humor and vocabulary, but regardless we had hoped he would drop the xenophobia and stop using hatred to gain power. The man was still grey among these extraordinary people of color as he approached the final mirror of the night.
Trump saw himself and one could hope the President would realize his own desire to be powerful like a grandmother. To be a woman, connected to the earth and nurturance, to love unconditionally, kick ass in defense of what you love, give good advice, and keep the fabric of families and society together. A million other things, just ask your own grandmother if you can. But he just tweeted, “Grandmothers are pretend mothers. They aren’t real mothers. What does grand mean anyway? Criminals.” Nothing seems to get through to this guy.
We had one clue as to how these void sojourns had started. Check out this photo from the FFN archives.
