Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination hearing to be the ninth and tie-breaking member of the Supreme Court of the United States is underway and revelations have been juicy. Should he be the person who will decide whether abortion remains legal, the limits of corporate power and influence in elections, and countless other issues crucial to the future of this country? He wants you to say yes, he wants it badly, but will you be seduced by the glib comments of Senators at the hearings and the multi-million dollar PR campaign funded by dark money?
Judge Gorsuch has never shied away from the spotlight. We know he was the legal collaborator in defense of President George W. Bush’s tortures at Abu Ghraib, but was there a sex dungeon that Dick Cheney was running in the bunker? What was Dick’s safe word and does the Judge wear latex dresses under all those robes? These are the kinds of questions we hoped would be asked at the confirmation hearings.
We know Gorsuch is an accomplished corporatist and religious conservative, but before we risk women’s right to choose and the last vestiges of progressive democracy under his leather gavel, we need to ask, why was he humming hit song “Love Me Like You Do” during the hearings, right from the 50 Shades soundtrack? Further, we have to wonder why the lead character of the original film is named Christian, and Gorsuch is a known Christian conservative. Coincidence? Probably not. Christian conservatives have a known history of all matter of perversions.
That’s why we’re setting up the “Just Ask Neil” S&M booth just outside the Senate. He hasn’t agreed to appear, and until he does, we will never know just how twisted he is. We at FFN have signed a pledge: If Judge Gorsuch will reveal his fetishes publicly and admit that his corporate votes turned him on, we will endorse his nomination.
